FILM SCOUT is an app for people just like YOU. It allows you to rate, rank, and review movies at film festivals like Fantastic Fest — and compete for copious and random prizes against other Scouts along the way.

Simple: We’re going to show you a random movie playing at Fantastic Fest. View the synopsis and decide from 1-5 stars how INTERESTED you are in seeing that film. Then do that again, for another random film.

When you participate in the Fantastic Fest FILM SCOUT event, you’re not only earning bragging rights and potential prizes. Your votes will directly help the folks at Fantastic Fest determine which films they may program and distribute throughout the year at Drafthouse Cinemas throughout the country. Legion M is always on the lookout for great movies that fans love, and your votes may also influence the company’s decision to acquire a move right here at the festival!

FILM SCOUT was an app we originally developed for Sundance in 2019 as a way for our investors (and free members) to help us select a film to acquire.
The app is more than just a game, it's also a powerful data analytics tool. Legion M uses data generated by the platform to make content decisions for the company.
In 2020, over 120,000 FILM SCOUT votes at Sundance led Legion M to partner with Bleecker Street for the release of the critically acclaimed comedy Save Yourselves! (89% Rotten Tomatoes)
In 2019, FILM SCOUT at Sundance led Legion M to partner with Screen Media for the purchase and release of the critically acclaimed documentary Memory: The Origins of Alien (81% Rotten Tomatoes)

Remember how we asked you to predict what movies OTHER people want to see? That’s data we can grade. At the end of the festival, we release a leaderboard that shows exactly how you stack up compared to every other Scout on the platform.
Decision time. We’ll ask you two very easy questions:
And that’s it. You make your way through all the films at Fantastic Fest, whittling them down to your top favorites. It’s like Tinder, meets March Madness, but for Movies.

The second place Scout (by score) will win:

-A framed photo of the champion (i.e. the person who beat you) wearing The Official Film Scout at Fantastic Fest Champion's Crown
-Limited-run glory. 1 or 2 generations maximum.
